Part 22 - Nothing in my Hands

'Nothing in my hands I bring,
Simply to thy cross I cling;
Naked come to thee for dress,
Helpless look to thee for grace:
Foul, I to the fountain fly,
Wash me, Saviour, or I die.'

From the hymn 'Rock of Ages', by Augustus Toplady (1740-1778)

This is a wonderful hymn that has encouraged so many. Keeping grace in mind is so important at this time. We don't bring anything to God to make him happy with us, or to justify our salvation. Nothing in our hand to bring. We just cling to him and his work on the cross. Jesus died for sinners and clinging to him is saving faith. Do you feel empty? Do you feel guilty? Come to him! Fly to Jesus today. He has never turned a sinner away who comes to him to be clothed in his goodness and right standing. Friends, the gospel is good news yesterday, today in this crisis, and forever.
