July News and Prayer Update

We give thanks for the great connections that we have made this year to spread the news of CAP locally: Works4you, Copeland Social Prescribing, Job Centre Plus, The Growth Company, Women out West, The Harbour Commission, Barry the new pastor at Woodbank, The Cumbria Guide.

Please pick up a copy of The Cumbria Guide which contains a super piece about our work written by Julian.

There is also a fab video interview with Julian.

It’s on the Cumbria Guide YouTube channel

and Facebook

and Twitter

Please pray that those who need our services will find out about the help we offer.

May News and Prayer Update

The CAP Whitehaven partnership meeting will be on 19th May, a time to be inspired by what God has done this year and look ahead with enthusiastic hope - we look forward to someone from your church joining us there.

We give thanks for the tremendous turn out for the Befriender day and pray that having heard more about the role, some of those present may become befrienders.

For anyone who wants to learn how to better manage their money, the next CAP money courses are on 11th and 18th May (2 part course) 10:15am at Cornerstone Bookshop.
Let your minister know or contact

Please pray for the new links with two organisations: The Growth Company who may refer potential clients to us and Home to Work for clients who want to get back into work.

March News and Prayer Update

We thank God that after 2 difficult years we have more new clients coming through, CAP money courses running and social events being planned.

The events team has met to look at client activities where we can share the message of God’s love. The first will be the football school.

One of the most important things you can do for this work is to pray. We have a zoom prayer meeting once a month on a Friday morning, which you are welcome to join. Even if you can’t join the prayer meeting, there is a monthly sheet you can use at home with more specific prayers for clients and things the team is doing.
Contact Phill at and request him to send you the note and link.

February News and Prayer Update

We thank God that we continue to receive loose change that people have collected in little jars. It all adds up to the things we are able to do for our clients. If anyone would like to give in this way, we have more jars available.

Here are messages from two of our clients:

“Thanks ever so much for the food help...I was bowled over. A little light in the darkness. Thanks everybody from CAP.”

“Thank you so much for the CAP Christmas hamper. I was so grateful that some thought and cared about me. When those wonderful kind people left my home I shed some tears. Thank you for the fantastic support from all the team. God bless.”

Please pray this month for five of our clients who are currently facing a variety of challenging situations in addition to their debts and for the CAP team who continue to offer them Christian love and compassion.

January News and Prayer Update

We thank God that his healing continues in Jon and Iris.  Jon is gradually returning to work and with Mel as a second debt coach, we will be taking clients again from February.

In 2021, CAP UK as a whole helped 1,794 people become debt-free (3 were ours), >3,000 people take control of their finances through the CAP Money course and many others gain skills and employment through the 225 Life Skills and Job Clubs.

Please pray for our CAP and FareShare clients and families whose Debt Management Plans will be challenged by increased costs for energy.

As we publicise our services, we need more Befrienders to come alongside new clients. Members of the partnership churches, please ask God to search your heart about whether you could become a Befriender and speak to your church minister if you want to know more or feel this is a way you could serve.

December News and Prayer Update

Huge thanks to everyone who was at November’s table-top sale. Between sales and donations we raised an incredible £900. The message of Jesus love was shared in many conversations and some took John Kirkby’s book, Nevertheless.

And thanks too to everyone who got involved in providing Christmas hampers to bless our clients. They will bring cheer at a time of year that can be very difficult for some.

We need more Befrienders so if God has moved to you help people by coming alongside them in friendship to support the work of our Debt Coaches, please get in touch your church minister or email us at for details.

If anyone would benefit from help with budgeting, the CAP money course is available to anyone. It’s just 2 sessions and usually run as 1:1 or in a small group. Contact Pat at

That Jonathan will return refreshed and in good health so he, together with Mel, our new Debt Coach, can start helping new clients again in the New Year.

And please remember our clients in your prayers over Christmas when the exclusion from all the spending, glitz and lights added to the dark nights and cold weather make it harder to stay positive and focussed.
