Womens Day
On the 3rd October we are delighted to welcome Hannah Fox from All Saints Church in Preston, who will be speaking to us about persevering in the Christian life.  The day will commence at 10am with coffee and cake and we warmly invite you to bring a packed lunch to eat together, in fellowship, when the session finishes at 1pm.  More details can be found here
Christianity Explored
Do you know someone who is starting to explore the Christian faith and would like to learn more? We are running the newly revamped Christianity Explored course from the 5th October to 16th November on Mondays.   We are running two identical courses in parallel, to accommodate people who need a daytime course and those who prefer to attend in the evening.  The course is to be held at St Johns Church in the lounge at 2pm and will repeat at a local family home at 7pm.  
Please invite people to join the course - it's absolutely free and you are welcome to come along with them if they'd like you to.  You can share details from our Website and over the coming weeks, we'd be grateful if you'd share posts from our Facebook and Instagram too. Christians Against Poverty (CAP)
On the 10th October, we are hosting some CAP befriender training at St John's.  This training is suitable for our existing befrienders or for anyone who might be interested in becoming a CAP befriender.  If you'd like to know more, please chat to Mel Turner, who will be happy to tell you more about what befriending involves.  
On the 25th October we are holding our annual CAP Sunday bring and share lunch.  We will have a speaker from CAP who will give us a brief update on the works of CAP Whitehaven during the 11am service.  Please plan to bring a lunch item to share and during lunch we will have a further presentation from the CAP team about their valuable work.  If you'd like a jam jar, to save your loose change for CAP, please speak to Mel Turner and she can arrange that for you. 
On the 28th November, we are holding a table top sale for CAP in the church hall.  This will be an opportunity for people to come and buy some cheap Christmas Gifts and we will also have a coffee corner with free tea and cakes.  Nearer the time, we'll be sharing information about what you can donate, and when and where you can donate it - so please keep watching this space! 
Christmas Unwrapped
Once again St John's are planning our free Christmas event for the local community.  This popular event takes a huge amount of volunteers to run, so please pop the date in your diary and pray about whether you can help on the day or with advance preparations or cake donations.  It is a real privilege to host this event for Hensingham, but we can't do it without your help.
